When should you involve an independent transition advisor?
A provider change can affect more than the help desk. Administrative access, cloud subscriptions, endpoint agents, backup systems and vendor relationships may all depend on the outgoing MSP. Involve CyberVault while you evaluate providers or before a planned exit so those dependencies can be identified early. If a transition is already underway, we can discuss a focused review of remaining risks and unresolved handoff items.
This service is useful when leadership wants an independent view of readiness, when responsibilities between providers are unclear, or when documentation and ownership need attention. An initial discussion establishes which systems and business services are in scope.
What does transition planning cover?
We review the current arrangement and help compare the incoming provider’s proposed responsibilities with business needs. Planning can cover asset and account inventories, documentation, licensing, domain and tenant ownership, access transfer, service dependencies and communication responsibilities. We also review how the parties will coordinate backup checks, cutover decisions and rollback planning.
Technical changes are assigned to the responsible provider or internal team. Each milestone should have an owner, a target date and agreed evidence of completion. Where information is missing, we record the dependency and escalate it before it becomes an unexpected cutover issue.
What do you receive?
Depending on the agreed scope, deliverables include a transition plan, responsibility matrix, handoff checklist, readiness review, issue tracker and management updates. The checklist connects technical tasks with business acceptance: who confirms that support is available, security monitoring is covered and the incoming provider has the information it needs?
A closing review records unresolved items, follow-up owners and acceptance decisions. This gives management a documented basis for understanding what changed and what still needs attention after the move.
How do you protect continuity and access?
CyberVault reviews the plan for secure credential handoff, replacement of outgoing access, account ownership and continued security coverage. We coordinate evidence checks for monitoring, endpoint protection, backup arrangements and support escalation. Credentials should be exchanged through an agreed secure process, not ordinary email.
Continuity depends on the environment and the participating providers. Readiness checkpoints, planned change windows and an agreed fallback approach help manage disruption; they do not eliminate every migration risk.
Who performs the migration?
The outgoing MSP, incoming MSP and internal IT team carry out their agreed operational and migration tasks. CyberVault acts as an independent advisor and coordinator: reviewing readiness, documenting risk, escalating blockers and reporting to leadership. We do not automatically take over routine administration or help-desk operations.
How long does an MSP transition take?
Timing depends on system complexity, contract and notice requirements, documentation quality, access availability and the incoming provider’s readiness. We establish a realistic schedule after reviewing those dependencies rather than promising a fixed duration before understanding the environment.
How do we get started?
Tell us why you are considering a change, whether a replacement provider has been selected and any planned transition date. The first conversation clarifies objectives, responsibilities and the information needed to define scope. Please do not email passwords or sensitive configuration exports.
